Subaru Impreza is a compact car from the C segment, produced by the Japanese concern Subaru Corporation founded in 1953. His premiere falls on 1993. Previously, the top model of the brand was Subaru Leone.

The event is the first passenger car with four-wheel drive, which was produced on a mass scale. The first-generation Subaru was available in the sedan and station wagon with naturally aspirated engines (1.6, 1.8 and 2.0).

The name of the model came from the English “impress”, or impression. The Japanese wanted to create a car that will make a big impression. In fact, this happened thanks to the turbocharged version with greater efficiency and outstanding power. This version was created specifically for the needs of the World Rally Championship to replace the already worn Legacy model.

The car with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine entered the European market in 1994 as a Subaru Impreza GT – the equivalent of the Asian WRX. What apart from the engine did this version stand out? Above all, a more solid suspension and equipment with a spoiler combined with bumpers.

The breakthrough moment was 1997 for the model. A 211-hp engine entered the market, thanks to which the car could accelerate “up to a hundred” in 6 seconds! Two years later, this power was increased to 218 hp.

Manufacturers also introduced dedicated versions of the model. One of them was the McRae Special Edition from 1995 in honor of Collin McRae, who gave the show during the RAC rally. The event of Catalunya was produced to celebrate the title of the “Producer’s World Champion” and then the Terzo Party was released on the same occasion. Special models did not stand out in terms of technology from the traditional version. Only design distinguished them. One of the versions could be bought with the so-called The “WR” package, thanks to which it was possible to increase the engine power up to 240 hp.

It is worth mentioning also the P1 Impreza from 1999, made by Prodrive for Subaru’s order. P1 engine power is up to 280 hp, and the car has been improved to allow smooth driving on winding and bumpy roads.

Mitsubishi Lancer was the biggest competitor of the Event, and the rivalry between the two brands can be compared to today’s situation of Samsung and Apple. However, the dynamic situation on the automotive market caused the withdrawal of producers from Lancer’s production. What is the Impreza famous for? First of all, its advantages – four-wheel drive, good performance and traction and amazing tuning possibilities. The fourth generation of the car has been produced since 2011. Currently only the WRX STI version with a four-cylinder 2.5 engine is on sale. with 305 hp. Over the last 23 years, the engine power has increased by about 87 hp. It seems that it is also easy to meet reworked versions with a power up to 600 hp.
