The first generation of this car was to replace the emergency model Renault 21. An interesting aspect of this model is the fact that it only appeared in the liftback, station wagon and couple versions, the sedan version was bypassed. Nevertheless, this factor did not prevent Laguna from maintaining a strong leadership position on the Polish market for several years. Interesting design strongly reminiscent of the Safrane model, high driving comfort and a spacious interior allowed Renault to be a great success.

Renault Laguna I

In 1998 the car underwent a face lifting. The new Renault look could be seen after the front change of halogens to a more round shape, while the rear was characterized by more complex lights. Bumpers have also undergone modernization, which since then began to be painted in body color. A significant change was the withdrawal of the 1.8 8V gasoline engine and the appearance of two new ones: 1.6 16V and 1.8 16V.

Renault Laguna I in Euro NCAP tests received 3 stars, however, as a result of the progression of regulations, one star was received.

Production of this model ended in 2001, thus presenting a completely new model called Renault Laguna II. This car, like its predecessor, could be purchased in two variants, liftback and station wagon. Depending on the market location, the same vehicle could be found under the name Laguna Grandtour or Laguna SportsTourer.
The innovative solution that was first used in the French brand Renault was the Keyless system. It allowed the vehicle to be opened and started without using the key, and using a card. Laguna II was built on the same floor platform as the Nissan Primera.
The style of the car was distinguished by the look that referred to the Renault Initiale prototype.
Renault Laguna II was the first car in Europe to set a safety standard and received 5 stars in EuroNCAP crash tests.

In 2005, Renault Laguna carried out a car lift. The new image of the car consisted primarily of refreshing the dashboard, which was made of better quality materials, there was a microfiber upholstery, as well as the technical improvement of the car, i.e. the evolution of the Keyless system on Handsfree, which allowed opening the car without having to remove the card – it was enough to have it only with you. In addition, the radiator grille and lamps, the vehicle front belt and rear lights were changed, and the Initiale Paris equipment package was introduced. leather upholstery, heated seats, rain and parking sensors and sun blinds.
The vehicle’s success was taking second place in the plebiscite for the EUROPEAN CAR OF THE YEAR 2002.

Renault Laguna III was sold in the years 2007-2015. The new generation of the car was 15 kg lighter and had more rigid stabilizers.

The new Lagoon is also a new look that has a more aggressive front.
All engines work with a six-speed gearbox in the 1.6 and 2.0 Turbo petrol versions from Renault, while one of the 2.0 versions was developed with Nissan. During development, the 2.0 dCi diesel engine was gradually updated to be able to comply with Euro standards and regulations related to the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
In 2010, six finishing versions of the model appeared: Expression, Black Edition, Business Eco, Bose, GT 4Control and Initial. They were all characterized by elegance and prestige.

With the appearance of the 2nd Development Phase of the third generation Laguna model in France, all gasoline engines were withdrawn, the only one that retained the gasoline version was couple. 3.5 V6.

In the final process, Renault Laguna was replaced by the Talisman model.
